Ceres Rail Company
The Ceres Railway offers a unique way for visitors to experience the Ceres valley whilst being immersed in 100 year old history.
Ceres is one of the biggest deciduous fruit producing areas in the Western Cape and features breath-taking scenery, exciting activities including cherry picking in summer and snowy visits in winter, and a plethora of indigenous fynbos in and around Ceres.
Cherry Picking
During the season we are open 7 days a week, except closed for Christmas Day 25th December.
Trading hours are 8.30am – 4.30pm each day.
Do come and visit us and “pick-your-own” cherries on Klondyke Farm. Several varieties are available depending on the time of the season.
Matroosberg Snow
During the winter months, Matroosberg is often covered with snow.
After a good snowfall, the southern slopes remain snow-clad for quite some time and you can drive to the snow. This area is also well known for its private ski-slope.

Horse About Trails
Our magnificent horse trails and horse riding holidays start from our home base on the magical de Heuvel Farm, in the Witzenberg Valley. Here our horses live and graze as a herd in large paddocks. Our horse trails will take you through magical forests and indigenous fynbos on de Heuvel and Fable Wines, up into the foothills of the imposing Witzenberg Mountains with breathtaking views throughout the ride.
Zip Slides
We offer the best Zipline Tour in Africa. Come and experience this 1,4km of pure adrenalin Eco Adventure, consisting of 8 slides varying from 100-290m in length. This Eco-Adventure is safe, fast and long.
The tour takes place in the Schurweberg Mountains below the Koekedouw Dam in Ceres. Experience the true beauty of the Western Capes fynbos and rugged sandstone mountains.
Bergsig Wine Tasting & Bistro
The Estate offer an extensive range of wines, ranging from a fresh fruity Sauvignon Blanc, wood matured Cabernet Sauvignon Reserve wine and various Port Style wines.
